Be aware, Be safe—sexual assaults do happen.
It only takes a second to slip drugs into a drink
Make sure you know what’s in your drink:
- Never leave your drink unattended at bars, parties or restaurants
- Never accept drinks of any kind from someone you do not know well and trust
- Only accept drinks from bartenders or servers at bars, clubs or restaurants
- Open and pour your own drinks at parties. If there is an "assigned" bartender, watch your drink being poured carefully. If you feel unsure about any drink you are served, don't drink it!
- Keep your wits about you—limit how much alcohol you drink
- Always arrive and leave with friends when going out
- Set up a buddy system with a friend—watch out for each other
- Be alert to the behaviour of your friends. If they become very drunk, very quickly they could be in trouble. Get out, get help.
