Teeth Whitening
Start with a great Daily Cleaning Routine
- Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
- Floss and clean between your teeth once a day.
- Schedule regular checkups and cleanings with your dentist or dental hygienist. Why not CINOT?
- Limit stain-causing drinks like cola, tea and coffee.
- Quit smoking or chewing tobacco.
If you already have a rock-solid mouth cleaning routine and you’re still concerned about the colour of your teeth, talk to a dental professional about whitening options. They’ll be able to help you determine what tooth whitener is the right one for you.
Whitening Options
Toothpastes
Using a whitening toothpaste that includes fluoride can help remove surface stains between dental visits.
At-Home Whitening Kits
Home teeth-whitening kits are really popular and when used properly, they can produce nice results.
FYI - You need to be careful when buying over-the-counter whitening products. Some bleaching agents may damage your gums and mouth. So make sure you follow the instructions on any whitening product you use.
P.S. Teeth-whitening products are known to cause tooth sensitivity in some people. This is usually temporary but can be kind of uncomfortable.
In-Dental Office Whitening
The procedure usually takes 30 to 90 minutes, and one to three visits to the dental office. A bleaching agent is "painted" onto your teeth and heat or high-intensity lights used to enhance the whitening process.
FYI – These procedures can be pretty expensive so you might want to talk to your parents about it first.
